With a passion only found in the soul of an artist, Louise Roy-Doucet creates works of art from a centuries-old craft. Her passion for this art form started on a vacation in Paris where she was introduced to the amazing possibilities of dies and fabric. From the beginning, she liked to work with colors and patterns that blended together to create unique wearable art that was able to complement or be the focal point of a women’s dress.

Louise works from her studio in Florida and performs complex processes that use different resists, dies and die additives to enable her to control how the dies spread and merge with other colors on pure silk. Some of her designs require multiple layers and applications that allow patterns and colors to emerge from under other colors; some taking days to produce.

All of the artwork starts with a pure white bolt of silk. After, Louise transforms the silk into colorful works of art, The final steam set process ensures that Louise's custom formulated colors are as bright as possible.
